Count rows, cycle through repeats, and get reminders for periodic actions
The Smart Pattern Reader gives you three counter tools. Row counters track your position and sync with chart highlights. Repeat helpers cycle through repeating sections. Action helpers remind you of periodic events. Together, they keep you on track so you can focus on your stitches.
Each counter shows your current row with +/- buttons to advance or go back. When a counter is linked to a chart, the current row highlights directly on the PDF — you always know which row you should be working.
Tap + after completing each row and the yellow highlight moves up the chart. Tap - to move it back if you need to tink. The highlight follows your reading direction — bottom-to-top for standard charts.
Tap "Add Counter" to create as many counters as you need. Each one advances independently — use one for the chart rows and another for total rounds, or separate counters for body and sleeves.
The session timer tracks how long you've been knitting. Below it, the Counter Helpers section (Full mode) provides two specialized tools: repeat helpers and action helpers. These are standalone trackers you increment yourself, separate from chart-linked counters.
A repeat helper cycles through a fixed set of rows a specified number of times. Set the row range and repeat count, and it tracks which repeat you're on and which row within it. When it wraps from the last row back to the first, the repeat count advances automatically.
An action helper counts up and alerts you when you reach an action row — perfect for "increase every 6th row" or "buttonhole every 12 rows." Advance All increments all helpers at once, Frog decrements them all, and Reset returns them to their starting values.
