Release Notes

August 13, 2026

See a pattern in your own yarn colours before you cast on. Put the tabs you use most at the front of every pattern and project. Lend out needles that came from Ravelry. Buttons read clearly in every theme, dark mode is gentler at night, and the home screen looks the same on your phone, your tablet and in the browser.

Colour Swatcher (new, beta, off by default)

• Give each colour the pattern uses one of your yarns, or any colour from the wheel, and the designer’s photos appear in your colours
• Photograph a skein and the app takes the colour straight off it, so you can match yarn you are holding in the shop
• Shadows and stitch texture stay where they are, so cables and folds still read as knitting
• The app finds the pattern’s colours in the designer’s own notes, whether they are called Colour A and B or MC and CC1
• It paints the garment and leaves the background, the model’s face and her hands alone
• It uses the designer’s photos, not other makers’ versions, so you are comparing against the original
• Nothing about you is sent anywhere. Finding the garment in a photo is done by our own models on our own server, and how many colours a pattern takes is read from the designer’s own public description. Your yarn, your stash and your own photos never leave Stash2Go
• Most popular patterns work. A cream jumper photographed against a cream wall does not, and the app says so rather than guessing
• Swatching a pattern is quicker, and each photo appears as soon as it is ready instead of all of them waiting for the slowest
• Some photos quietly gave up on finding the garment and coloured by shade alone, which is what can put your yarn on a model’s hair. Those photos get their proper outline now
• On a pattern’s Yarns tab and a project’s pattern tab. Turn it on in Settings, Assisted Features, where it says exactly what is sent

Your Own Tab Order

• Drag the tabs on a pattern into the order you want: PDF first, then Projects, then Description, if that is how you knit
• Set it once and every pattern opens that way. Projects, yarns, stash entries, people, bundles, your library and your queue each get their own order
• No more opening the “more” menu for the tab you use every single time
• Your order follows your account, so your phone, tablet and browser agree

Needles & Hooks

• Lend out a needle that came from Ravelry. Until now only needles you had typed in yourself could be lent
• Name the Ravelry user who has it, search for her, and open her profile from the needle. Type any name instead if she is not on Ravelry
• A lent needle shows on the badge, in its details and under the Loaned filter

Magazine

• The Magazine opens on a different article each time, with the ones you have not read first. It used to lead with the same story every visit

Colours & Readability

• Buttons and links read clearly in every theme, light and dark. Some came out near enough black on a dark background, worst in the forums
• Dark mode is gentler at night. Cards and corners no longer glare on an OLED screen
• The craft drawings on the home tiles stay visible with the plainest surface style, instead of going nearly black on a dark tile
• Picking a theme shows all ten of its colours, in the colours you will actually get for light or dark mode
• The arrow at the end of a row is one size and the theme’s own colour everywhere, so it looks like something you can tap
• A fresh install starts on Citrus Burst in the Light style, by day and by night. If you have already chosen a theme, nothing changes
• In German the surface styles all fit on the screen again, with “Kräftig” no longer pushed off the edge

Home Screen

• Tiles look the same on every device and simply get bigger or smaller
• Phones keep three across. A tablet gets more tiles rather than bigger ones, and a large iPad no longer wastes a wide strip down each side
• Turn your phone sideways and the captions stay short and fit on the tile

Photos

• Pattern and project photos from Ravelry are sharper. Many were shown far smaller than the picture Ravelry actually has

Stash

• The Stash Matchmaker counts the yarn you still have, not what you bought. Four skeins already going into a cardigan are no longer offered to a new pattern
• Yarn you marked “will trade or sell” is offered again. It is still on your shelf until somebody takes it

Finding Patterns

• Search inside a pattern list and your results stay. They used to flip back to the full list after a second
• In the browser, a pattern tile opens when you tap it

Your Language

• Buttons say the right thing in all 26 languages. The Norwegian button for writing a forum post read as the sort of post you build a fence from, and twelve other languages had the same mix-up
• Buttons are worded as instructions now, so they read like the app is asking you to do something

Removing Ads

• On a tablet the Premium page showed no way to buy anything at all. It listed what you get and a Restore Purchases button, and that was the whole page, whichever way you held it
• On a phone the plans were folded shut, so you saw the price and a small arrow but no button. The plans are open now, with the button in view
• Settings opens with a shortcut to remove ads, instead of leaving it halfway down the Account list

Also Fixed

• A pattern source with no cover picture no longer shows a large empty block where the cover would be
• The picture across the top of a forum card follows the card’s rounded corners
• Legacy layout: tidier forum list, and lists no longer settle on older results

August 8, 2026

Weaving projects get a proper home, in beta and off until you switch it on. One switch in Settings now turns every assisted feature off completely, and each feature says exactly what it sends. The For You feed follows the crafts you actually work in, instead of showing a crocheter an almost entirely knitted feed, and each feed now has its own settings. Row repeats can be set up the way patterns are really written. Plus the pooling calculator shows every stitch count again, Enhanced Contrast genuinely raises contrast, archived forum topics can be shown, and the yarn picker searches your whole stash.

Weaving (new, beta, off by default)

• Weaving projects now have their own Weaving tab: loom setup, sett, draft, warp planning, yarn, finishing and final measurements
• The app works out the key numbers for you and flags an input that looks unlikely, rather than quietly accepting it
• WIF import and export, draft and rigid-heddle tools, and metric yarn counts handled properly
• After feedback from experienced weavers, every suggestion says where it came from and never overrides a weaver’s own values. Planned and finished measurements stay separate
• Fixes for custom yarn names, draft naming and shop links

Assisted Features

• Settings, Assisted Features now begins with a single switch that turns AI off completely. It is stored with your account, so it applies on every device you sign in on
• While it is off, features that use AI stay visible but locked, so you can see what was stopped, and the buttons that would start one are hidden: scan yarn label, the camera in the stash, Bobbin on the web, the trending forum themes card, Analyze on a chart, and generating video captions. Switch it back on and your earlier choices come back exactly as they were
• Every feature is now marked either AI (something is sent to OpenAI) or OpenCV (picture analysis that happens on your own phone and is not affected), and each one says what it sends
• For pattern PDFs: only the passage you asked about, with its title and page, for translation, and the page text plus a picture of a chart when you ask for Auto-Setup. The PDF file itself is never sent

Feed

• The For You feed follows the crafts you actually work in: mostly crochet projects means a mostly crochet feed. Crocheters used to get an almost entirely knitted feed
• With no projects yet, craft is ignored and you see everything. You can still pick a single craft to see exclusively, and switching craft rebuilds the feed from the top. Marking an item “not interested” now counts against that craft too, which it previously did not
• “Patterns Only” and “Projects Only” really filter now
• Feed settings are split per feed: a compact card with a Friends / For You / Magazine switch that shows one feed’s settings at a time, instead of one full-screen list mixing all three
• The Friends feed has a switch for each kind of activity, saved with your account, so the feed fills up with what you want to see
• Notes on feed cards are formatted properly instead of showing the formatting characters themselves, including headings, lists, links and separator lines
• The little knitting animation holds still while the feed loads, and a normal load no longer warns you about your connection
• Patterns opened from the feed no longer appear without photos

Row Counters

• Setting up a row repeat works: type the rows and the repeat count without the fields jumping back to their old values, with a clear message when the numbers do not make sense, and a total row count that stays correct when you edit or turn the repeat off
• The counter tells you which pattern row you are on and which pass (“pattern row 4 completed, repeat 1 of 2”) before, during and after the repeat, so it is never silent
• You choose how your pattern counts, “a total of 3 times” or “3 times more”, which are different things and patterns use both, and the app shows the resolved result before saving
• A repeat can run open-ended (“repeat until the sleeve measures 44 cm”) and be finished where you stand, resumed, worked again, or skipped
• Settings lock once rows are worked, so a typo cannot silently re-interpret your knitting, and each section has an (i) that explains it. The Row Counters guide on the website walks through it step by step
• Still in progress: the same quick actions directly on the counter card, and several stacked repeats on one counter

Tools

• The pooling calculator shows every stitch count again, in order, as a full square swatch, with the ranking kept as a “Best first” switch. It had been showing only the fifteen “best” counts as small cut-outs, so the counts that actually made the diamonds you wanted could sit out of sight
• Pooling results are named properly: the shift from row to row is now worked out from your colour sequence and your stitch count instead of guessed, so results other than “Blotchy” and “None” are finally possible
• Your yarn and recent colours in this tool are saved with your account instead of staying on one device

Stash

• The purchase date from Ravelry is now shown on the stash detail page and in the list
• The project yarn picker searches your whole stash and leaves out yarn you have used up or traded away. You could be offered the empty copy of a yarn while the full skeins you still had never appeared

Appearance

• Enhanced Contrast now genuinely raises contrast for low vision: darker text, stronger lines and clearer card edges, in every theme and surface style
• A short guided setup helps you choose a look: display mode, mood, contrast, then a colour theme picked from the ones that fit. Light and dark switch as you choose them, so you judge on the real screen rather than on a swatch, and only what you picked is applied
• A “Need help choosing a style?” box on the colour theme screen starts it again, and can be switched off in Settings, Appearance

Forums

• Archived topics can be shown alongside regular ones with a new filter. Ravelry only shares archived topics you have read before, so only those can appear
• A reply notification now shows the topic title instead of just a topic number

Patterns & Library

• The classic pattern detail page shows your pattern PDFs as thumbnails at the bottom, just like the modern view
• The PDF tab on a library volume is always visible, and pattern PDFs from external sources open the same way as all other pattern PDFs

Two new things to try, both in beta and both switched off until you turn them on. Craft Value grades a pattern by how often it actually gets made rather than how often it gets favourited, and adds a Statistics tab, a “Top Craft Value” list and a Craft Value box on designer pages. The Magazine, in the Feed tab, now writes about patterns instead of listing them, with everything it mentions tappable in the text. Alongside those: a full-screen photo editor wherever you add a photo, pinch-to-zoom in full-screen photos, row counters that keep counting with no signal, more detail on every stash entry, and settings that follow you to your other devices.

Craft Value (new, beta, switch on in Settings)

• Every pattern now gets a Craft Value grade based on how often it is genuinely knitted or crocheted rather than just saved for later, plus a place in a global ranking. A pattern with 20,000 favourites and almost no finished projects is a very different pattern from one with 800 favourites and hundreds of finished garments
• The grades come from what the patterns themselves show. Nothing in the scoring is a number we picked because it felt about right
• Each pattern is now measured against patterns from its own year. A design from 2015 has had a decade to be cast on; one from this spring has had a few months, and is no longer judged as though it had the same head start
• Knitting and crochet are counted on their own terms, so neither craft is held to the other’s numbers
• A Statistics tab on each pattern shows the numbers behind the grade, and says plainly when there is not enough evidence yet to give one
• Discovery gained a “Top Craft Value” list you can narrow with the full pattern filter set: craft, weight, yardage, needles, gauge, difficulty, language, year and more. Re-sort by popularity, projects, queues, rating, newest or name
• Designer pages show a Craft Value box on their Insights tab: how their grades spread across the whole catalogue, a signature pattern, their strongest category, and a line tracking how their grades have moved over the years. Designers not yet looked at can be graded on the spot
• Browse designers by grade, by whether their work is getting stronger, by category, or by the kind of designer they are
• Craft Value reads in all 25 app languages
• In beta while the grading settles. If a grade does not match your own experience of a pattern, tell us. That is the most useful thing you can send

Magazine (beta, off by default)

• The optional Magazine in the Feed tab is still in beta and still off until you switch it on. Articles now have something to say about a pattern rather than repeating what you could already read on Ravelry
• Every pattern, designer and yarn a story mentions is tappable right there in the text, opening the real item inside Stash2Go, instead of sitting in a list at the end
• Hide an article you are not interested in, rate any story from 1 to 10, sort by what has been read most, and browse a tag cloud that shows how often each tag is actually used
• New sources added from designer blogs, so more of what you read comes from the people who design the patterns

Photos

• Adding a photo now opens a full-screen editor everywhere: projects, stash, fibre stash, and forum, message and note attachments. Crop, rotate and flip; adjust brightness, contrast and saturation with a live preview; apply filter presets; draw on the photo; add text and emoji stickers. Pick several photos at once and edit each one before they all upload
• Full-screen photos now support pinch-to-zoom and panning, so you can look as closely at a cable, a colour transition or a stitch detail as you like

Row Counters

• Counters keep counting with no signal and sync when you are back online. If the same counter moved on two devices while both were offline, you are shown the clash and you decide which count is right, instead of one quietly overwriting the other
• A counter linked to another one now advances at the same moment whether you tap in the app, on the home-screen widget or on your watch. All three count the same way

Stash

• Each stash entry shows its length, how many skeins and its weight without opening it, and works out how much you have left when you open it, so long stash lists stay quick to scroll

Feed

• Designers you have marked as favourites now reach your feed even when they are not among the most popular overall. A quiet designer you love no longer gets crowded out

Getting Started

• First launch is now a calm sequence of full-screen steps, one decision at a time, and the advertising consent question is asked later rather than in the doorway

Settings & Account

• Your settings are saved to your account the moment you change them and restored on any device you sign in on. A reinstall no longer loses your preferences
• Premium is recognised again when the store has nothing to say, and a reinstall on Android no longer looks like a fresh, unpaid install
• More of the app in your language. Settings, appearance, and the counter sync and clash messages are translated across all supported languages (Magazine articles stay English for now)

Fixes

• Project sort orders now match the Ravelry website exactly: in-progress projects by when you started them, finished ones by when you finished them
• With no connection, Projects and Stash say so clearly instead of flickering, and coming back to the app no longer flashes an offline notice
• Large page titles no longer flicker while scrolling on iOS, and Favourites returns you exactly where you were
• The home-screen widget follows your phone’s light/dark setting, and receive-only counters no longer show −/+ buttons that do nothing
• Yarn shops from both Ravelry and Google now appear correctly on the map tab
• Top Designers sits in two columns on a tablet or a wide window instead of one long stretched list
• Forum buttons are readable again, and the details under a post are in a more sensible order
• Home tile icons show correctly in the browser, and German wording was tidied up

A big update focused on widgets, Studio, messaging speed and a fresh coat of colour. iOS widgets now mirror the app exactly with one consistent look and reliable tapping, Studio’s colour fade is built from your real yarn photos, messages open in seconds, you can apply pattern updates without leaving the app, and there are brighter new themes throughout. Plus fixes for forum scrolling, the stash grams-to-length conversion, Premium recovery and those random “session expired” logouts.

Studio

• The colour-fade preview is now built from the real colours in your own yarn photos (ignoring the background and labels), so the fade looks like your actual yarn rather than a generic swatch
• Studio now flows as one route, from Studio to Color Cathedral to Multi-Yarn Matchmaker to the pattern, with the back arrow and edge-swipe always returning you to the room, in both the Simple and Advanced layouts

Widgets (iOS)

• Widgets now show exactly what the app shows. “Hot Right Now” and “New to Ravelry” use the same searches as the app, and “My Projects” lists your in-progress projects in the same order as inside the app. Empty states and the occasional blank tile are fixed too
• All tile widgets (Favorites, Hot Right Now, My Projects and Stash) now share one identical square, picture-focused layout, with photos cropped to a clean square so they cannot overlap neighbouring tiles, and they follow your phone’s light/dark setting automatically
• Tapping a pattern, yarn, project, shop or stash item in a widget, or a topic in the Forums widget, now opens that exact item, in every app layout (Simple, Advanced and Legacy)

Row Counter Widget

• The Row Counter widget’s project picker no longer comes up empty and now respects a pinned project, including projects that do not have any counters set up yet (iOS)
• On Android, the Row Counter widget now loads your in-progress projects instead of showing an empty “open the app” box

Library & Patterns

• Pattern Library now has filters to narrow it down and a cleaner saved-searches experience
• A banner in the pattern’s PDF area lets you know when an update is available; the volume in your library shows the same, with a tab to apply updates
• You can now apply a pattern update right inside Stash2Go, with no need to visit the Ravelry website
• On a book or magazine page, tapping it now takes you straight to all the patterns from that source

Messages

• Opening a conversation could take ages, sometimes nearly a minute, with a “network problem” warning. Conversations now open in a couple of seconds

Themes

• New and brighter colour themes to choose from, including a Pride rainbow and fresh looks for iPhone and Android, plus a tidier, more consistent look throughout the app

Forums

• Forum pages scroll more smoothly, and the “show project” and “show pattern” buttons in a post now open the actual project or pattern instead of the poster’s profile

Stash

• Using a stash yarn in a project and entering how much you used in grams now fills in the correct length in metres. The gram-to-length conversion was off before

Browsing

• Project search now opens fresh and waits for you to type instead of showing old results straight away, but still keeps your place if you tap into a project and come back

Account & Premium

• No more random “session expired” logouts
• Premium now recovers automatically after a purchase that showed an error but had actually gone through, with no need to tap Restore

Home Screen

• The Social Feed tile was removed from the home screen to keep things focused and uncluttered

Improvements to stash, tools, patterns, and sign-in. A new Legacy layout joins Basic and Advanced, camera scanning and stash saving are fixed, newly added needles and hooks appear in the toolbox, adding yarn from your stash while editing a project works, the offline sign-in message is clearer, and pattern lists keep your scroll position.

Layouts

• New Legacy layout alongside Basic and Advanced, bringing back the previous Stash2Go 2 layout that several users asked for

Camera & Scanning

• Camera now opens reliably when scanning a yarn label or adding a stash photo on Android 16. Previously the phone buzzed but the camera never appeared
• “Scan Yarn” now opens the camera to capture a yarn label instead of jumping straight to the yarn database

Stash

• Editing a stashed yarn’s colour or number of skeins now saves correctly. The false “Update failed” warning is gone and your changes are kept
• A saving indicator now appears while stash changes are saved to Ravelry and photos upload, so it’s clear the save is in progress

Needles & Hooks

• Newly added needles and hooks appear in your toolbox right away, and tools that were saved but hidden show up again

Projects

• Adding yarn from your stash while editing a project now works. The stash no longer shows as empty when you have yarn in it

Sign-In

• Signing in without an internet connection now shows a clear “no internet connection” message instead of a confusing sign-in link error

Browsing

• Returning from a pattern to the list keeps your scroll position instead of jumping back to the top

Stash Matchmaker leaves beta, row counters move to fast cloud sync, and Apple Watch counting is more reliable. Plus a redesigned counter setup, unit-aware stash entry, flexible camera-photo cropping, and quieter background errors.

Stash Matchmaker

• Out of beta. Picking a stash yarn no longer makes results flicker or reload
• Your chosen filters are kept when you switch yarns instead of resetting
• Collapse the stash selection and search within filters for easier browsing

Row Counters

• Counters sync quickly and reliably, with no more snap-back or flicker while you edit
• Apple Watch counting fixed: very high counts no longer crash, and the Watch stays in sync with your phone
• Repeat counters wrap correctly on the Watch, matching the phone
• Fixed repeat counters doubling their maximum value after you rename or edit them
• Restored the “Add to Home” pin on the Row Counter page
• Update every device you count on to the latest version so they share the same counts

Counter Setup

• Redesigned setup shows all options at once instead of hiding them in collapsed sections
• Clearer On/Off pill toggles, larger labels, and a two-column layout on tablet, desktop, and web

Photos

• Camera photos can now be cropped with preset ratios (1:1, 4:5, 5:4, 4:3, 3:4, 16:9, 9:16) or freely with no fixed ratio, instead of a single fixed crop
• The crop screen no longer overlaps the header or bottom navigation

Stash

• Length and weight respect your unit preference (m/yd, g/oz), with an inline toggle to flip on the spot
• Entering "30 m" is no longer silently stored as "32.81 yd"
• Over-allocating a yarn is shown clearly with a hint, and allocate buttons hide while over-allocated
• Pattern yardage shows in your chosen units

Stabilization

• Low-storage mode and the Storage screen redone, with a clearer readout of the space you are using and "Free up space" actions
• Forum topics that wouldn't load on Android now recover on their own
• Android settings now show the correct current camera, location, and gallery permission status
• Fewer stray error messages, so a real problem is easier to spot

Stash, pattern PDF tab, and stabilization. Every colorway shown separately, the PDF tab works for every kind of pattern, plus broad reliability fixes across refresh, widgets, and storage.

Stash

• The stash picker shows every colorway separately instead of lumping a yarn line together, with the color family on each one
• Queue Matcher only combines skeins that go together: same yarn line, different colorways are fine. No longer beta
• Stash amounts follow the units you prefer, with a toggle to flip them and a warning when you allocate more than you have
• Adding yarn to your stash now offers to add a photo

Pattern PDF Tab

• PDF tab is always shown, covering every pattern shape: paid, free on Ravelry, free off-site, or any mix
• Free patterns preview instantly without adding to your Ravelry library
• Multi-PDF picker for patterns with multiple files (e.g. multi-language)
• Paid patterns show their price and a "Buy on Ravelry" button, the buy link opens properly in the browser, and a paid pattern marked free shows what it really costs

Stabilization

• Pull-to-refresh fixed on Queue list, project detail, and other screens
• iOS widgets refresh reliably instead of showing yesterday's information
• The web app no longer claims you are offline when you are not
• Low-storage mode keeps the app lighter on a phone that is running out of space
• The app asks you to rate it at most once a month

Smaller Improvements

• Sort WIPs and finished projects by most recently updated
• Optional Recent Favorites widget plus a Recently Favorited carousel on Home
