Tap Forum on the Home screen. The forums you belong to are listed with what is going on in each - the newest topic, when someone last posted. All Forums at the top opens everything on Ravelry.

A forum is a group; a topic is one conversation inside it. Each topic shows how many posts it has and when someone last wrote, so you can see at a glance what is alive and what finished two years ago. Pinned topics stay at the top.

Open a topic and you get the conversation, oldest first, with Load earlier posts at the top if you have come in halfway. Each post shows who wrote it and when. Photos, patterns and projects people linked show up as real cards, not bare links.

Tap Reply under any post. The editor does the usual formatting - bold, italic, lists, quotes, spoilers - and, more usefully, it can drop a real thing into your post: a Project, a Pattern, a Yarn, a Stash entry, a Person. Camera and Gallery attach photos.

A four-hundred post thread is unusable by scrolling. The ⋮ menu has the shortcuts: First, Go to Post (by number), First Unread - the one you will use most - and Last. The Gallery tab beside Posts pulls every photograph in the topic into one grid, which is a fast way to find "that green sweater someone posted".

Tap the star on a topic and it joins Starred Topics, reachable from the star in the forum header. That is your own shortlist, instead of hunting through forums for the thread you were reading last week. Unread counts appear on the Forum tile on the Home screen.

Inside a forum, the compose button starts a new topic. Give it a title - make it the question you actually have, because that is what people search - and write the post with the same editor. Choose the right forum and you will usually have an answer the same day.
